(completed August 2018)
The 367 girls from Zilla Parishad, an all-girls secondary school, come from impoverished backgrounds and are vulnerable to dropping out of school. In addition, their families don’t place a great emphasis on their education due to gender discrimination. The girls only had basic textbooks for their classes, and the school didn’t have a library or other basic resources. To address this issue, I tutored third-graders in California for over one year to raise donations. I also collected numerous art supplies, as well as 1,300 books from local libraries and book stores. My project supplied them with 1300 books as well as numerous art supplies. The library and the art center encouraged students to keep attending school.
